Working at a desk for hours can be exhausting for your body. That’s why I use the Pomodoro Technique: I set a timer for 25 minutes, focus on one task, then take a 5-minute break. During that break, I move—walking around the kitchen, stretching my hamstrings, quads, and calves, or even running up and down the stairs.

If your job keeps you in front of a screen, try taking breaks every 30 minutes. Small bursts of movement can help you burn calories, ease stiffness, and keep your energy levels high.


Take Short Walks After Meals

Many people think they don’t have time for the 30 minutes of exercise doctors recommend daily. The truth is, you can break it into three 10-minute sessions and get the same benefits.

A brisk walk after each meal helps with digestion, keeps your blood sugar steady, and boosts your mood. Plus, if you walk with a family member or coworker, you’re also adding valuable social time to your day.


Get Active in the Garden

Gardening is more than a relaxing hobby—it’s also a workout. Digging, lifting, pulling weeds, pushing a mower, or turning compost all engage different muscles. Plus, you get a healthy dose of vitamin D from the sunlight, which supports strong bones and teeth.

If you grow your own vegetables and herbs, you’ll also enjoy fresher, healthier meals—straight from your backyard to your plate.
